How I Will Change Over This Summer
Why Is Self-Improvement Important
If you've been following me on here for a while, then you know my posting schedule isn't always consistent.
We live in a revolutionary age for careers with the start of online content, social platforms, and AI tools. Many individuals have mastered this new age & revolutionized both their lifestyles and their contributions to society.
This is what I strive for and advocate to other like-minded individuals. However, I'm in the beginner's phase where I'm still discovering and have no work to show to the world.
I started the year with goals to transform my life to an ideal one, one of which I shared here. Yet, I'm no less different from then to today, soon to be 6 months with no significant progress.
For this entry, I'll be addressing the lax approach I and many beginners struggle with. As well as why all of this effort is better than the alternative of living the bare minimum. To top it off, I'll be sharing my revised goals for this summer as a commitment with you who's reading this.
So if you'd like to see how to kickstart your own life, take the next 7 minutes to follow the productivity train of thought.
THE LAX DILEMMA
As always, let's start at the beginning.
I planned for annual goals to achieve this year that aligned with my purpose. However, despite taking time to work on them, I haven't made much progress.
Several factors have played a role, all my fault I regrettably write.
Firstly, my lax attitude towards the goals have come from poor habits and lifestyle choices I failed to fully get rid of and replace with productive ones. Secondly, I don't keep progress on my goals because they weren't measurable or achievable when I first wrote them down. Thirdly, I tend to stack up more than what I'm allowed with the limited time, energy, and focus I have.
All of this has culminated into feeling stuck in life and having those closest to me worry for me or give a similar impression.
So what's next?
First thing I will need to do is rework my goals, projects, and tasks.
Keeping with the upcoming summer season, I'll be aiming for a 3 month window where a measured, achievable result can be seen by me and others.
And by others, I also mean you. I'll be laying out the plan out here so that I can be held accountable. You may also offer your insights if you desire, anything helps
Without further ado, let's dive into my Summer Breakthrough Plan.
THE BREAKTHROUGH GOALS
Following the Dan Koe approach of being multidimensional, I have created 6 annual goals of living my ideal life:
Achieve ‘Work-Out Body' (Health & Fitness)
Financial Freedom (Purposeful Work)
Social Outreach (Socialization)
Build A Personal Brand (Digital Leverage)
Be A Disciple (Spirituality)
Master The Bible (Education & Curiosity)
Each one had milestones which were then broken down into tasks. I shared an example for financial freedom a while ago.
Looking at it now, I realize problems with this approach with hindsight:
Measurability: I didn't get too specific with how I was going to measure my progress. (e.x. I would socialize with one other adult but how would that look)
Achievability: I have other responsibilities or environmental aspects I can't ignore - church ministries, niece babysitting, living with immediate family. The current living space has affected most of my goal progress.
With all of it said, I have made some leeway with a few goals.
I'm following my exercise routine weekly, tracking my money with daily account bookkeeping, and extending my social outreach into my ministries.
The annual goals are alright to keep, it's the approach for the next 3 months that need to be adjusted.
While this would qualify as a milestone, I'll be treating them as seasonal goals part of the greater goal.
This summer:
As an athlete, I will achieve a muscular build of 12-16% body fat by Aug 31. (HEALTH & FITNESS)
As an entrepreneur, I will build another source of income of $1,000 a month through digital services by Aug 31. (PURPOSEFUL WORK)
As an extrovert, I will host 3 spaces for get-together and invite other young adults for fellowship while being more open about my passions and goals by Aug 31. (SOCIALIZATION)
As an entrepreneur, I will be sharing what I'm working on and what my values are through online platforms by Aug 31. (DIGITAL LEVERAGE)
As a disciple, I will search for what it means to be a young man after God's own heart by Aug 31. (SPIRITUALITY)
As a polymath, I will look into the art of learning to further help me through proven techniques and accessible tools by Aug 31. (CURIOSITY & LEARNING)
With the seasonal goals in place, the next step will be to break them down.
THE GOAL BREAKDOWN
When working with goals, it isn't enough to write them down. I'll need to specify how the progress will look (milestones/projects) and the actions I'll be taking weekly and daily.
This will ensure that I'm working towards my goals with clarity to ensure I won't get distracted.
I will also have to keep in mind my duties (church ministry, babysitting, work), my environment (living with family, minimal solitude), and my resources (introverted mindset, all-in-one device).
I've broken the goals into the projects, followed by the weekly/daily tasks:

As stated before, these projects ensure a clear action to measure goal progress and attainability. The tasks help me to see how it would look and how much time it'll take.
I need to make it a challenge for me to adapt or to learn something new, so that a clear growth is visible to myself and others.
Before I wrap up, I'd like to address whether all of this is necessary.
A PERSONAL GOAL
What I mean specifically is the lingering thought I've had for the past 2 years.
Am I cut out for this?
I haven't progressed much in the past 6 months and I haven't leaned into the digital entrepreneur lifestyle as the creators I've been following.
I've settled for the bare minimum with my Doordash gig (which I've been doing for 8 years) and my personal duties.
The overarching issue lies in my current state of finances, which could be resolved if I doubled down on my job applications and got hired in a decent job.
However, I've applied for jobs, but never got hired. I have skills that could be offered online, but never followed through.
So why put all of this effort in the next 3 months when I can just continue on and focus on getting a job?
I have 3 reasons.
I lived a majority of my life avoiding risk and still feeling like I could be doing more. This summer is where I'll be going all in with the risk of winding back where I'm at now or achieving something great.
I've been learning and applying many skills where I shouldn't be waiting for permission to do something more. My experience in the church has shown me the need for more leaders in the world.
I'm surrounded by people who are content with the bare minimum and want the same for me. If I want to live extraordinarily, then I need to live beyond what is ordinary.
This entry is a commitment with you of what I'm aiming for and a reminder to myself of why I need to change. Change not for the sake of improving myself, but change to bring my ideal self closer to where I'm at now.
CONCLUSION
In short, I've shown you my Summer Goals and Goal Breakdown as a commitment to visibly become someone new.
I do hope you take the time to look over how to approach goals, projects, and tasks. Feel free to shorten the number of goals and fit them to your ideal self. The rest of the breakdown will depend on your current life and personal traits.
I'll be sharing my progress throughout my other channels and occasionally on here. I will still be sharing what I'm learning through this blog and ways I can help you in your digital journey.
At the end of the day, this is my pioneer's journey and I welcome any pioneer exploring this new, digital frontier.
Thank you for reading and blessings!
